The cover figure is by author Susana Chung. She was one of the keynote speakers at KVM 2018. An area of research at Chung's laboratory at the University of California, Berkeley is to understand the role of fixational eye movements on functional vision for people with macular disease. This figure depicts the use of a custom-built scanning laser ophthalmoscope to record fixational eye movements of a patient with macular disease. The horizontal and vertical eye position traces are shown in the upper left panel. Note the large amplitudes of microsaccades and slow drifts. The bottom left panel shows the two-dimensional fixation map, where the intersection of the horizontal and vertical dashed lines represents the average fixation location.
